Lifestyle newborn sessions are special in that they take place within days of baby’s birth in the family’s home. In most cases, I’ve never met the family before and I’ve certainly not been to their house! The idea of entering into a family’s private world during one of their most emotional seasons of life can be a bit daunting to me.
As soon as I entered Lauren and Jimmy’s home, I felt so welcome! They were so incredibly friendly (especially their dog, Jackson!) and were also so relaxed! No one seemed anxious or worried about the session and even baby Harper was sitting contentedly in Lauren’s arms. It was such a peaceful scene to walk into and I really think it shows through in their images!
Sweet Harper did such a great job posing for her portraits! She stayed awake for the entire hour-long session and, at 6 days old, was already making eye contact and following the camera! Now that my own daughter is two, I’m always amazed at how tiny newborns are! I absolutely loved the photos of Harper’s tiny hand holding on to Jimmy’s pointer finger.
Harper is clearly well loved – not only by Lauren and Jimmy but also by Jackson! He wouldn’t leave their feet during the session and wanted to keep watching the baby.
I absolutely loved getting to photograph this wonderful family. It was such a treat to leave the session feeling peaceful and relaxed! Congratulations, Lauren and Jimmy, on your beautiful girl!
