Today’s blog features an adorable winter maternity session with a holiday-feel to it – perfect for the beginning of December!
I knew I liked Teal from the moment that she sent me her initial inquiry. I could tell, even over email, how excited she and her husband, Tom, were to be expecting their first child. The more we talked, the more it became clear that we had the same vision for the session. We both loved the idea of a winter maternity session, and we even both hoped for snow!
Teal and Tom chose to do their portraits at the Lorenzo State Historic Site in Cazenovia. It’s a gorgeous historic estate with a large mansion and multiple cedar-shingled out buildings. The Lorenzo has been on my bucket list of places I’d love to shoot, so I was thrilled to finally have the opportunity. The timing couldn’t be better, either! The entire grounds were decorated with wreaths, ribbons, and twinkle lights for Christmas. Simply perfect!
I loved getting to know Tom and Teal better. Tom was stuck in Utica for the first half of the session, which gave Teal and I some time to get some photos of just her (and her belly!) before he arrived. By the time Tom arrived, it felt like I was hanging out with old friends! Despite the chilly 40 degree weather, these two rocked their portraits. They even brought a whole bag of props for detail shots (future clients, take notes please!), which made their session that much more personal.
I’m so excited to share this holiday-themed session with you guys! I can’t wait to meet Baby Boy Nanna when he arrives in January!
