We kicked off our 2018 wedding season last Saturday, celebrating the marriage of Lydia and Joe! I’ve been to a lot of weddings, but theirs was easily the most personalized one yet! Lydia and Joe put so much thought into every detail of their wedding day and it showed! Their day was classy, yet a lot of fun – just like them!
One thing that stuck out to me about this wedding was how relaxed the day was. Instead of the usual rush to get to the ceremony and photos on time, the day followed an easy schedule. We managed to be on time the entire day (not an easy feat in the wedding world!) and it made the whole day feel fun and relaxed.
After getting ready, Lydia and Joe officially tied the knot at the University of Rochester Chapel. Their ceremony was so incredibly sweet! They both wrote their own vows, Joe’s brother (and best man) played a special song for them, and they had a unity wine ceremony (similar to a sand ceremony, but with white and red wine – and a shot of fireball to keep things fun!). It was romantic, but also light-hearted and very sweet!
At spring weddings the one unpredictable part of the day is usually the weather. What was originally forecasted to be a sunny, 65 degree day turned out to be cold and rainy. Oh, and don’t forget the extra threat of an ice storm! Lydia and Joe did not let that stop them, and the weather stayed dry enough to get a few outdoor photos after the ceremony! Those were without a doubt the fastest bridal party photos I’ve ever taken, but they were worth it!
Following photos, everyone made their way to the Diplomat banquet center for the reception. Again, Lydia and Joe made every detail as personal as possible. Their cake was AMAZING and told the story of their relationship. Everything, from Lydia originally being in Syracuse and Joe in Rochester, to them meeting at a conference in Virginia, to Joe proposing while on a cruise to Mexico was covered! And the cake topper was silhouette of a bride and groom lifting a barbell!
There were so many touching moments throughout this wedding day, that I can’t possible describe them all here! Lydia and Joe, we wish you the very best as you start your married life together! Enjoy the honeymoon and please bring back some of that Caribbean sunny weather with you!
