I’ve been on a maternity leave of sorts for a the past three-and-a-half weeks and it’s all thanks to this little lady!
Our family welcomed Abigail Joy on September 24th after a very fast labor (under three hours!), and we’re all doing great! At only 7 lbs, 9 oz. she weighed almost two pounds less than Elizabeth did at birth! This little peanut has definitely brought some big changes to our family, but we couldn’t love her more!
Little Abbie has grown so much in the past three weeks and is really starting to show us her personality! It’s crazy to me how different she is from her big sister! Elizabeth was an “all or nothing” baby. When she was happy she wouldn’t stop smiling, and when she was upset…well, let’s just say that girl had a set of lungs on her! Abbie is much more calm. She is very awake for a newborn and is content to just sit on your lap and stare at you or a toy for hours. Even her cry is more calm and if you give her some time to calm down, she’ll settle herself!
Adjusting to life with two kids has definitely taken more time than I thought it would, and we’re still not completely settled yet. We’re slowly starting to get back to our old routines. Each week we seem to add another element back into our daily schedules. So far, things like social media and blogging have been on the back burner. Instead, we’ve been focusing on being more present with our littles in real life. It’s been pretty great!
We have been so lucky because Caleb was able to take 6 weeks off for “paternity leave!” It’s definitely been different having all FOUR of us home at once. We’ve been able to get a lot of house projects done, and are even planning on taking a road trip down south to visit family while he’s off. Anyone with tips for long car rides with a three year old and 4 week old, please share! After that, we’ll be back to weddings and finishing up a few other fun projects (details to come soon!).
