Abbie Joy – 4 Months Old

Today I thought I would take a break from my bridal series, to bring you a personal blog.  Our sweet Abigail turned 4 months old last week and it’s about time we shared some more photos and an update!

Everyone has asked me how it was going from one baby to two and, four months in, I’m still not quite sure we’ve got it figured out.  When I was pregnant with Abigail, I had an idea of how life would be once she got here, and I was completely off!  This kid is nothing like I thought she would be (read: is nothing like Elizabeth was), but life with her is better than we ever could have imagined.

Abbie is our little peanut (she’s three pounds smaller and two inches shorter than Elizabeth was at 4 months), but she is strong!  She loves “standing” on our laps and is sitting up mostly on her own.  She hasn’t quite figured out rolling yet, but if you put her on her tummy, she’ll do a fairly good impression of an army crawl!  For being so quiet and content, she really is a go-getter!  Abbie’s favorite things include listening to her big sister, grabbing toys on her play gym, and having “conversations” with us.  This month brought us her first real belly laughs and it is so cute to hear her giggling away!

Abigail’s middle name is Joy and we couldn’t have picked a better name for this child.  She is fairly even tempered, but when she’s not peacefully observing, she’s usually smiling!  Not only that, but she has brought so much joy to all of our lives.  Very few people know this, but Abbie is our rainbow baby.  After months of longing for a new baby, and after a miscarriage at 10 weeks, her life has been an incredible blessing!  A year and a half ago, I was in the midst of mourning a baby I never got to meet, and couldn’t see past my sorrow.  In the midst of that season, I clung to Psalm 126:5 :

Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!

This psalm has become even dearer to my heart as I’ve seen it fulfilled in our lives!  Our tears have been replaced with laughter and our sorrow with incredible joy.  We’ve loved every moment of our sweet Abbie Joy’s life and I’m excited to share some of those moments with you today!

Here are some of Abigail’s monthly photos, covering the last 4 months!
