Aderohunmu Family Session

Syracuse, New York

Despite the cold and snowy weather we’ve been having, I’m really feeling like spring is in the air!  Part of that is probably due to the fact that photography season has finally begun for me!  I kicked off this season with the Aderohunmu family this weekend doing family photos and celebrating their daughter, Nora!  I’m so excited to share their winter family session today on the blog!

Caleb and I have known David for about 7 years now, since Caleb was a student at Upstate.  Their friendship has spanned many seasons of life and it has been wonderful seeing David go from a single man to a husband and father!  David and Amanda welcomed their daughter, Nora, in October and this was my first time meeting her!  I had a blast catching up with these guys, playing with Nora, and hearing all about what life looks like for them now.

As any parent can attest, babies change so much during their first year, which is why we spent so much of the session focusing on Nora.  (You’ve got to preserve every detail while they’re still little, right?!)  At 4 months old, Nora was SO curious about what was going on.  Despite being a little bit distracted by her sequined skirt, she really did a great job sitting through photos!

We started out the session indoors at The Sweet Praxis, a bakery and cafe in downtown Syracuse.  (Shameless plug:  If you live in Syracuse and haven’t been to The Sweet Praxis, you must go!  Their food is amazing, the service is always top notch, and the atmosphere is wonderful!  Also their almond croissants are possibly the best thing I’ve ever eaten in Syracuse.)  It was great to get a few shots of Nora in a warm and cozy environment before heading outdoors.  While it was a bit chilly, I just adore the photos we took at Franklin Square Park!  There is something about natural light that just can’t be beat!  Plus, there was just a bit more room for getting full family shots and walking shots, which are both essentials in my book.

Here are some of my favorites from this winter family session!
