The 2019 wedding season has officially begun! Jessica and Daniel got married almost two weeks ago and we were honored to be a part of their big day! Jess and Dan incorporated so many wonderfully unique elements into their day that I hardly know where to begin!
Caleb and I arrived at All Saint’s Church to set up for the ceremony and were greeted by two of Jess’s brothers. Jess had mentioned that she was having “ring brothers” as opposed to a ring bearer, so that didn’t phase us at all. What was surprising was that instead of the standard ring pillow or box, they were holding a statue of two gnomes! That’s right, on top of the gnome’s heads, nestled on their pointy hats, rested the wedding rings! It turns out that we weren’t the only ones surprised by this. Over the years, Jess and her brothers had joked that there was a gnome living in her apartment, but she had no idea that this would play a role in her wedding. The look on her face when they showed her the statue was priceless!
The rest of the day was filled with equally personal and special moments. Rather than having flower girls, Jess and Dan asked their grandmothers to walk down the aisle as “flower Grams.” Grandparents can sometimes be overlooked at weddings, so this was an especially sweet way to honor them!
For me the most touching moment, and my favorite part of the day, was during communion. The hymn that Jess and Dan had selected was called “The Servant’s Song” and as I watched them sing it to one another, I found myself tearing up! The song begins,
In the five years that Caleb and I have been married, we’ve learned how crucial having a servant’s heart is to loving each other well. I can’t think of more beautiful words to start off a marriage!
After the ceremony and portraits, we headed over to Willow Rock Brewing Company for a casual hangout before the reception. It was a relaxing way to spend the time between the ceremony and reception and everyone had a lot of fun!
Here are some of my favorite moments from Jessica and Daniel’s wedding day!
