On Saturday, Caleb and I celebrated FIVE years of marriage! It’s a little crazy to me to think that five years have already gone by, but at the same time, it feels like yesterday that we were walking down the aisle!
Weddings have become a primary theme in our lives over the past two years, so it’s interesting looking back on our own wedding day. I remember exactly how it felt to walk down the aisle (the BEST moment ever!), to do our first dance, and still regret not having had more of our delicious cake. Those memories are still so fresh in my mind, and I hope that they’ll stay that way for another 50 years!
Every year, we’ve done something special to commemorate our anniversary. In the past we’ve gone to Red Sox games and stayed at Belhurst Castle. This year, we decided to do something a little bigger and took a weekend trip to Washington, D.C.! Having two kids, it’s been difficult to find any time to ourselves, so this was a welcome getaway.
We planned our trip to coincide with the peak of the cherry blossoms and I’m so glad we did! It was so beautiful! Living in Syracuse, we’re used to clouds, grey skies, and bare trees. D.C. however, was in full bloom, the sun was shining, and jackets were completely optional! It was such a good reminder for me that spring is indeed coming! (In fact, in the weeks since our trip, the trees have started to bloom here in New York and it’s making me so excited for spring photo sessions.)
Here are some of the highlights from our weekend trip to Washington, D.C.!
