Kelly & Kenny – Engaged!

Manlius, New York

Last weekend I had the pleasure of doing some engagement photos for Kelly and Kenny!  I always love engagement sessions because this is usually the first time I get to meet my couples.  Their Green Lakes engagement session wound up being more of an adventure than any of us had bargained for, but their images still turned out beautiful!

As a photographer, I do my very best to control whatever environmental variables I can during a session.  I scout locations ahead of time, choose great light, and even educate my clients beforehand on what to wear and things to bring with them.  However, there are always a few things you just can’t control.  Generally, these are environmental factors, which is where our adventure began.

When we got to the Green Lakes, I was delighted to see how few people were there!  Maybe it was the rainy forecast or the fact that it was evening, but the beach and trails were fairly unoccupied.  This was great because we didn’t have to fight the crowds or constantly be watching for people in the background of their shots!

What we did have to watch out for were bugs.  Thousands of them!  Guys, I’m not exaggerating – these were the biggest and fiercest mosquitoes I have ever seen!!  As soon as I would get Kenny and Kelly settled in a pose, the bugs would swarm them!  Thankfully Kelly and Kenny were good sports!  We made it through the session, but by the end we were all completely covered in bites.

Despite the crazy mosquitoes, I’m so happy with how these image turned out!  I can’t wait to photograph Kelly and Kenny’s wedding in October when all the mosquitoes will be long gone!  In the meantime, here are my favorites from their Green Lakes engagement session!
