Classic Wedding on the Oneida River

Andrea and Dave have been married for a month and it’s the perfect occasion to showcase their beautiful day! These two had an intimate gathering that was both sophisticated and relaxed. This was our first time photographing a wedding on the Oneida River and it was gorgeous!

Andrea and Dave had their wedding ceremony in the beautiful St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Syracuse. When I walked into the building I was amazed by how picturesque it was! The stained glass windows were glowing with the afternoon summer sun and the dark beams provided the perfect contrast to the white walls. It was just such a beautiful place to begin a marriage!

After the ceremony, we drove up to The Pier in Central Square. The Pier is a banquet facility located right on the Oneida River as it enters Oneida Lake. It was the perfect combination of elegant and industrial and made for some gorgeous photos! The lawn and grounds were perfect for bridal party portraits, but my favorites were the ones we took of Andrea and Dave on the dock before we headed into the reception!

Andrea and Dave put a personal touch on every element of their reception. Andrea and her mother put together all of the reception decor themselves and the result was stunning. From hand crafted chair embellishments (I had never seen these before, but now I love them) to cocktail napkins with facts about the happy couple – no detail was overlooked.

My favorite moment of the night came after dinner when they held an anniversary dance. To my surprise most of the guests in attendance had been married at least 30 years! What made this dance especially sweet was that Andrea and Dave presented bouquets to the two couples who tied for the longest marriage. It was so encouraging listening to the thoughtful advice the two couples gave them. Andrea and Dave also honored a long-time friend who would have celebrated her 70th anniversary this year! It was the most touching way to end our day with them!
