I literally can’t wait to share today’s blog post. These images are both beautiful and so full of love and that makes my photographer heart sing! I met Jackie and Nick at their home for a beautiful family session in Skaneateles and today I’m sharing all my favorites!
I probably don’t say this enough, but I LOVE taking photos at client’s homes. First, there is no place more personal to you than your own home. Second, you feel comfortable there. If a place holds meaning and has at least some natural light, then it’s the perfect place to shoot! Thankfully Jackie was thinking the same thing because she suggested their property as the photo location and it was GORGEOUS.
We started out wandering trails through the fields as their little boy told me all about his grandpa’s tractor. We looked for beaver dens by the pond and saw a wooly bear caterpillar crossing the road. It was so much fun to explore and see the world through this sweet boy’s eyes!
Eventually we made our way to the big tree in the middle of the field and I knew we had found the spot. When I look at photo locations, I assess three things: the lighting, the background, and the composition. This tree knocked it out of the park on all three. Some of my favorite shots are of Jackie and Nick in front of the tree, of Jackie snuggling their sweet daughter, and of their little man pulling his beloved wagon around the trails.
