2022 Goals and Updates!

Pennellville, New York

It seems crazy to me that I’m posting my annual goals/updates blog, especially since I don’t think I did one in 2021! Last year was a year of transition for our family and it looks like 2022 will be a year of transitions for Samantha Ludlow Photography. Today I’m excited to share more of my vision for this year and what you can expect from me moving forward!

Let’s start with some reflection. 2021 brought us many good things – here are just a few!

  • While our son, Christopher, was technically a December 2020 baby, most of the transition to a family of 5 took place over the last year. We learned that three kids ages 5 and under is a tricky game and requires more attention than we thought. We also saw some immense growth in all three of them – and ourselves!
  • 2021 brought back the typical wedding season! I can’t tell you how nice it was to celebrate with ALL your friends and family! The return of weddings also gave me the opportunity to connect and partner with other local wedding photographers (more on that in a second).
  • This was my busiest portrait season to date! I know that I say this in every blog post, but I LOVE getting to spend time with you and your families. Time is our most valuable resource and the fact that you chose to spend an hour or more with me makes me feel so honored!

Now looking forward to 2022…

This past year really helped me to hone in on my priorities both as a business owner and as a wife/mother. With these priorities in mind, I’ve decided that 2022 will be my last wedding season, at least for now. Instead, I’ll be focusing my time on photographing families! I will always love capturing love stories, and I believe that the love shared on a wedding day is just the beginning of a lifetime of love and family.

My love of photography was born out of the desire to capture the love and joy of family and motherhood. This year I’m going back to those roots. My hope is that doing so will help me to better capture these memories for your families while also having more time to spend with mine!

So what will this transition look like? Here’s a sneak peek!

What to expect in 2022…

  • All of my 2022 weddings that are currently booked will continue as planned. Don’t worry, guys! I’m still incredibly excited to get to share in your special day!
  • I will be photographing and sharing more family, newborn, and motherhood sessions here and on social media.
  • There will be more Mini Session offerings this year! Right now I’m planning on at least two seasonal Mini Session dates, with the possibility of one more. Along with the increased offering, there will be some structural changes to the way Minis are run.
  • My website will be updated to reflect the new focus of my business! I can’t wait to dig through all the images from last year and update my portfolio!
  • I am creating a Style Guide for my portrait clients, which I’m really excited about! This will be similar to my Bridal Guide with outfit inspiration, tips and tricks for the session, etc.

If you always wanted me to photograph your wedding, there is still a way!

While I won’t be taking on new wedding clients through Samantha Ludlow Photography, I will be associate shooting for two other local photographers, Emily Netti Photography and Rebecca Sheets Photography. This means that I will still be the one photographing the wedding, but Emily or Rebecca would handle the planning, client communication, and editing. If you have been dreaming of having me photograph your big day, reach out to one of these two and ask for “Samantha!”

Final thoughts…

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for holding on till the end! The changes I just announced are big and they are a little bit scary. But I am certain that strong businesses are meant to grow and evolve! My ultimate desire this year is to go back to the roots of SLP and make them stronger. I can’t wait to connect with your families and witness more of life’s everyday moments with you!
