If this session is giving you feelings of deja vu, there’s a good reason for that! The Nanna Family is one of my favorite return clients and I look forward to their session every year. If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you’ve definitely seen their faces before. This year’s shoot was extra fun because we did their family session at Thornden Park – exactly the same place we did their session 4 years ago!
After years of working together, it has been getting hard for Teal and I to come up with new locations for their photos. When she said that she wanted photos in late June, Thornden immediately came to mind. You just can’t beat the Thornden Park Rose Garden in June, when everything is in full bloom!
When Teal and Tom’s oldest son was 6 months old, we did photos of their family in the rose garden. That was one of the rainiest sessions I’ve ever done. We had to take most of their photos with an umbrella! It was SO much fun to put a fresh spin on a familiar location. With two new babes, their family certainly has changed in four years! And the best part was, we had the most BEAUTIFUL evening!!
I loved watching the boys play, wrestle, and JUMP their way through this session! I also loved getting to meet the Nanna’s 9-month-old daughter. She was so interested in what we were doing and looked at the camera the entire session! Teal also brought along a blanket which was a great idea. Not only does it make for great sitting photos (it’s a visual boundary for kids and helps keep them in one spot), but it turned out to be a lot of fun! I love the photos of the boys jumping under the blanket!
[…] of my favorite places to photograph in Thornden Park is the waterfall garden up the stairs from the rose garden. This spot is often less crowded, provides more room for kids to run, and is equally as beautiful! […]
